Denmark is going to build an island to support renewable energy

Denmark is going to spend around 34 billion $ USD to build an offshore renewable energy island. This island will maintain predominantly a wind farm with goal of providing enough power to 10 million homes in Europe.

Denmark is the EU’s number one oil producing country, so this pivot to renewables demonstrates the country’s foresight.

Denmark already has experience with wind energy, having it produce over 100% of the energy needed to support the country in the past. The remained was redirected and sold to other countries.

If a country decides to leave the fossil fuel industry, which seems like the best bet for future business, it seems that investment in renewables allows for future growth. Denmark is building the island in a public-private partnership, meaning the government and industry will work together.

This partnership will allow for the government to help ease the transition for people working in the oil and gas industry.
